Ferryboat Farm Fishery
Ferryboat Farm Fishery in Old Denaby near Mexborough is where I decided to go this weekend. I use to be in Ferryboat Junior Fishing club, and have fond memories of this place.
The owners are some of the nicest pond owners I have come across so far, and the place itself it lovely and very well looked after.
I use to think there was only one, long pond here, but its now split into two, with the top pond usually matched up, I fished on the bottom pond on peg 14.
This section is perfect for the ground bait feeder to the far bank, but I fished on the Pole like usual and will come back for a feeder session later!
Bait I took was just Sweetcorn and Maggot. Meat is banned.
With the range of fish in this pond i reckons chopped worm and caster would be a good method too!
I plumbed up at about 7 meters out with the depths being about 5 foot. I had a splendid day, catching all sorts of fish; from small skimmers, to decent sized bream, and also a very nice sized tench. I also caught a few perch in the hedge.
A guy at the side of me was on the feeder to the far bank, and was catching carp consistency, so when I get my new feeder rod, I will be heading back to the beautiful Ferryboat Farm to give it bash! Watch this space.
